Electronics Test Technician
TUALCOM specializes in the design and manufacturing of high-performance RF navigation and communication systems. As a global leader in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, our innovations serve defense, law enforcement, and civil sectors worldwide. We are expanding our U.S. production line to meet increased local demand and are seeking experienced Electronics Test Technicians to support this mission-critical operation.
Position Overview
The Electronics Test Technician plays a key role in verifying the functionality and quality of our high-tech products before they are deployed to customers. This role requires strong hands-on experience in RF/electronics testing, system integration, and electromechanical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Testing Processes and Devices
- Conduct functional testing of electronic and RF/microwave products using equipment such as:
- Spectrum analyzers
- Signal generators
- Oscilloscopes
- Multimeters
- Power meters
- Interpret test results to identify issues such as signal loss, interference, and non-compliance.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance product performance based on test data.
Electromechanical Assembly & Validation
- Assemble, repair and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs), cables, and mechanical parts as required.
- Perform fine soldering, harnessing, and mechanical fitting with high precision.
- Validate assemblies and perform root-cause analysis on any detected errors during testing.
System Integration
- Support hardware integration, software configuration, and product-level commissioning.
- Apply firmware updates and system patches as directed, ensuring version control and documentation are accurate.
- Collaborate with engineering to optimize product functionality and resolve integration issues.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting
- Independently identify and resolve hardware and software faults during test, assembly, or integration phases.
Maintain clear and concise documentation of problems encountered and actions taken.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred: Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field. - Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in electronic or RF test and assembly roles.
- Solid understanding of RF, analog, and digital electronic principles.
- Familiarity with calibration and diagnostic tools used in testing environments.
- Working knowledge of ESD protection, IPC standards, and safe lab practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC certification (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001) or willingness to complete certification.
- Experience with ERP systems and electronic documentation tools.
- Basic programming or scripting knowledge for test automation or system controlĀ
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and test data reporting tools.
- Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or MIL-STD testing.
- Experience in industries such as aerospace, defense, medical devices, or automotive electronics.
Work Environment:
- Laboratory or production floor setting with occasional exposure to moderate noise.
- May require sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Use of safety glasses, gloves, and ESD equipment as required.
