Civil Engineering Intern
DHA is seeking a civil engineering intern for the 2026 Summer Internship Program (with the opportunity to extend through the fall semester). The intern will support our Civil Engineering Group in our Silver Spring, MD office. Candidate will be working with experienced engineers on challenging and exciting projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. A positive internship experience may lead to a full-time employment position after graduation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing civil and design calculations
- Assist in reading and developing contract plans and specifications.
- Assist in the field review for projects under construction and surveys of existing structures.
- Assist in construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.
Qualifications: (education, years of experience, certifications, drivers license)
- Pursuing a degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and design team members.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- Sound time management and task prioritization skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with using AutoCAD or Revit complete engineering drawings and details.
- Highly motivated and responsible individual with strong work ethic.
Working Conditions: (Identify the working environment for this position, i.e. engineering office setting, outside field work in all types of weather conditions, etc.)
Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work may be required 10% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
