Project Management Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
Interns will work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment and will complete the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of construction project and field management. Project Management and Field Interns report directly to their assigned Intern Supervisor and will assist our project teams on project sites or from our home office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the project management team with scheduling, estimating, file management, document control (submittals, RFIs and change orders), subcontractor and supplier coordination and project reporting.
- Work with the project team to solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids.
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in performing their duties and responsibilities, including, but not limited to, monitoring job sites, validating schedule progression, performing regular site walks, participating in on-site inspections and meetings, coordinating punch outs.
- Work alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents to learn construction management business principles including accounting, cost forecasting, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
- Assist the project team with drawing and document coordination (maintaining drawings, sending drawings, organizing/updating project documents, distributing documents to all parties involved in a project).
- Preconstruction drawing analysis including dimensional takeoffs and developing quantities lists.
- Product research and spec analysis.
- Daily correspondence with subcontractors, architects/engineers, consultants as directed.
- Coordinate with Marketing Director and take aerial (drone) and still project progress photos as directed.
- Participate in a Safety Ride-a-long with the company Safety Coordinator.
- Assist with project Closeout.
- Maintain a “Lessons Learned” journal and review it monthly with the Project Manager.
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents as directed.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to assist the estimating team in preparing cost estimates and determine construction requirements.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned or requested.
- Obtain OSHA 10 certification through qualification training.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field from an accredited College or University
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Detail Oriented
- Good judgment and decision making skills
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently
- Positive attitude and eager to learn • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Previous industry internship / work experience is desirable
- Knowledge of Procore project management software and Bluebeam Revu is desirable
- Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship program
- Must have reliable transportation
