Filmmaking Instructor (Contract)
Imagination Stage is looking for filmmaking instructors to lead some upcoming High School Conservatory classes this November and in the Spring!
These are one-day, hands-on intensives for high school students who already have a solid foundation in filmmaking. That means there's plenty of room for fun experimentation and creative exploration while building their technical skills.
Class Details:
- Lighting for Film: Saturday, November 15, from 3-8 pm.
- Sound Design: Saturday, November 22, from 3-8 pm.
- Editing: Saturday, Spring semester (Date and time TBD).
- Color Correction: Saturday, Spring semester (Date and time TBD).
Responsibilities:
- The instructor is responsible for creating a detailed lesson plan that balances theory with hands-on activities.
- The instructor is responsible for leading and supervising the class, with support from the Digital Media Manager.
Desired Skills:
Lighting for Film
- Understanding of three-point lighting and natural vs. artificial lighting setups
- Experience with various lighting equipment (LEDs, Fresnels, softboxes, etc.)
- Knowledge of color temperature, light modifiers, and lighting for mood/tone
Sound Design
- Proficiency with location sound recording (e.g., boom mics, lavaliers, zoom recorder)
- Experience with post-production sound tools (DaVinci Resolve)
- Understanding of Foley, ambient sound, ADR, and sound mixing
Editing
- Proficiency in editing software (DaVinci Resolve)
- Knowledge of pacing, continuity, visual storytelling, and exporting formats
- Understanding of editing workflows for short films
Color Correction
- Familiarity with color correction and grading tools (DaVinci Resolve)
- Understanding of LUTs, scopes (waveform, vectorscope), and color balance
- Ability to enhance mood and consistency through color
