KLNB 2026 Summer Internship Program (Commercial Real Estate Brokerage)

Job Description:  2026 Summer Internship Program

Location: Towson, MD; Tysons, VA; Washington, DC; Rockville, MD; Columbia, MD

 

Compensation: Varies by location.

 

Duration: 8 Weeks [June 1st – July 24th]

 

Schedule: Interns should be available in person 5 days per week for the duration of the internship program.

 

Position Summary:

• Engage in a weekly rotational to gain an understanding of other commercial real estate specialties.

• Access KLNB learning and development pitches & presentations on relevant commercial brokerage topics.

• Develop a capstone project for presentation at the end of the 8-week period to the company's Executive Committee.

• Become familiar with industry software such as CoStar, Placer, Property Capsule, LightBox Vision, and more.

 

Internship Goals & Responsibilities:

 

SHADOW A BROKER (RETAIL, OFFICE, INDUSTRIAL OR MULTIFAMILY):

• Learn the responsibilities and skills necessary to succeed as a Brokerage Professional.

 

LANDLORD REPRESENTATION:

• Develop prospect lists and make cold calls for current and future vacancies.

• Create and revise marketing materials noting vacancies, future availability and property details.

• Survey trade area to provide competitive analysis.

 

TENANT REPRESENTATION:

• Prepare market strategy and location analysis.

• Attend Tenant tours.

• Assist in research/planning as needed [sales, updated aerials, traffic counts, demographics].

 

GENERAL BROKER:

• Proposal review/editing for both Tenant and Landlord clients.

• Learn to redline proposals with a clear understanding of all terms in the Letter of Intent [LOI].

• Understand the process from signed LOI to lease execution.

 

MARKETING:

• Update website listings.

• Update competition maps for retailers.

• Research and catalog retail location spreadsheets.
