South Asian Community Liaison
Job Title: Community Liaison – Environmental Education & Outreach
Location: Prince George’s County and Montgomery County, Maryland
Employment Type: Part-time / Contract
Reports To: Project Director, Live Peace Tech Corporation
Position Overview:
The Community Liaison will play a key role in organizing and mobilizing the South Asian community to participate in environmental education and stewardship projects across Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties. This position focuses on outreach, partnership development, and logistical coordination to support workshops, tree-planting events, and related community initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and engage members of the South Asian community to participate in workshops, trainings, and environmental education activities.
Serve as a bridge between community members and project organizers, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships.
Identify and secure suitable locations for tree planting and environmental projects in collaboration with local stakeholders.
Assist in planning and promoting community events, including Mini Peace Forests, workshops, and volunteer activities.
Conduct outreach in English and South Asian languages (e.g., Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Bengali, Punjabi, etc.) through social media, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
Build partnerships with community organizations, religious institutions, schools, and cultural groups to increase participation.
Support project reporting, documentation, and data collection (attendance, photos, feedback, etc.).
Qualifications:
Strong communication skills in English and at least one or more South Asian language (Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Bengali, Punjabi, or similar).
Demonstrated experience in community organizing, outreach, or environmental education projects.
Knowledge or interest in environmental stewardship, sustainability, or green careers.
Strong networking and interpersonal skills with diverse communities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with nonprofit staff and volunteers.
Familiarity with South Asian cultures and community dynamics in the Washington, D.C. metro area is preferred.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate or stipend, commensurate with experience.
Flexible schedule; some evening or weekend work may be required.
