COORDINATOR/MANAGER, MEMBER SERVICES JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports To:                     Senior Director, Member Services

 

SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Security Industry Association (SIA), based in Silver Spring, Maryland, continues to experience significant and sustained growth in membership, along with an increased member awareness of benefits offered through advocacy, standards, learning and professional development, certification, research, and various networking activities. As the premier sponsor of the ISC international tradeshows and conferences, SIA serves as a catalyst for growth for over 1,600 member companies and brands operating within the global security industry.  We are in search of an energetic and enthusiastic professional who understands/lives the membership mantra: Selling while Serving, All with a Smile.  We seek a professional who embraces the administrative grunt work of database management, but at the same time displays an outgoing personality and curiosity to meet/know the membership.  We seek an upbeat professional who can effortlessly match the vibrancy and collaborative spirit of SIA as an organization. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

 

General Statement of Duties:

The coordinator/manager works within the Membership Department in a team environment with the Senior Director, Associate Director, and Senior Manager in support of membership engagement, recruitment, retention and event sponsorship goals. This position is primarily responsible for increasing the engagement activity of identified underperforming member companies.  SIA measures member engagement based on a score of transactional/non-transactional activity.  Member companies falling short of their expected score are identify as underperforming.

 

This position is proactive in creating awareness of opportunities/experiences for members and assists in driving new revenues and recurring revenues generated from various programs, products, and services. Working in coordination with the marketing department, the coordinator/manager will supplement the organizational onboarding process with their own direct outreach.

 

Inasmuch as the position reports directly to the Senior Director, Member Services, s/he works in close collaboration with employees/departments across the organization. While executing responsibilities individually, the coordinator/manager is adept at sharing information, reporting activity and measuring success.

 

The coordinator/manager must demonstrate exceptional member service and effectively represent the SIA brand and communicate the value proposition. The coordinator/manager will be personable, attentive to detail while displaying a “positive and fearless attitude” in reaching out to members. 

 

Responsibilities and Specific Duties include:

  • Increasing the engagement score of underperforming member companies through direct communication of the value proposition and specific benefits of membership.
  • Enhancing the organizational onboarding process with direct outreach.
  • Maintaining database accuracy by constant updating of member records. 
  • Assisting in the monthly billing and collection of member renewals.
  • Serving as liaison to SIA Member Experience & Engagement (MEE) Committee.
  • Supporting when needed the various member recruitment and retention efforts.

 

Additional Support of Member Services include:

  • Being highly responsive to member inquiries and service requests, with active follow up to ensure member satisfaction and increased member engagement.
  • Monitoring membership information on the SIA website.
  • Representing SIA and member services at various industry conferences, the annual meeting and other networking events.
  • Assisting in the preparation/execution of membership surveys and evaluations.

 

Reporting includes:

  • Produce a weekly/monthly membership engagement dashboard for SIA Board of Directors, senior staff, and all staff.
  • Update SIA staff on various aspects of membership, i.e. segment trends.

 

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Ideal candidate should possess a personality. 
  • Familiarity with membership engagement, recruitment, and retention programs.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in database administration, with an aptitude for membership and marketing, including commitment to and track record of exemplary member/customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Track record in acquiring and retaining membership a strong plus.
  • Must be able to thrive in a competing priorities work environment.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative spirit.
  • B.A. in a business discipline.
  • Work week consists of 3 days in the office and two days remote (home).
