Case Worker and Community Relations Coordinator

Ashiyanaa is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Case Worker & Community Relations Coordinator to join our team full-time on a permanent basis. This role combines direct client support with community outreach, ensuring that individuals and families of South Asian descent receive the assistance they need while fostering strong relationships within the community.

Reporting to the Client Relations Manager, the ideal candidate will provide comprehensive case management, advocacy, intervention, and support to clients facing challenges such as domestic violence, mental health concerns, financial hardship, homelessness, and child abuse or neglect. Additionally, they will help clients navigate the complexities of immigration and resettlement.

On the community relations side, the role involves building and maintaining positive relationships with partner organizations, state and county agencies, and faith-based groups, as well as representing Ashiyanaa at local events to enhance community engagement. The candidate will report directly to the Executive Director for their Community Relations Coordinator role.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about Ashiyanaa’s mission with strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with the Board, staff, volunteers, and external partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Work (60%):

  • Conduct client intake assessments to evaluate risk factors and immediate needs.
  • Provide comprehensive case management, including crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Schedule regular, consistent meetings with clients for reassessment, updates, follow-ups, and ongoing support.
  • Identify barriers to success and offer tools, resources, and guidance to help clients overcome these challenges.
  • Develop and evaluate personalized safety plans for clients.
  • Refer clients to appropriate community organizations, legal aid and support services.
  • Conduct home visits when required to ensure ongoing support.
  • Schedule and accompany clients to court hearings, legal aid sessions, counseling, and medical visits as needed.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with agency policies and state confidentiality laws, documenting progress and updates in the case management software.
  • Follow established protocols and prepare reports as needed for supervisors and the board.
  • Utilize and interpret data to inform case management decisions and reporting.
  • Participates in ongoing training and educational opportunities; provides resources to staff and volunteer advocates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Community Relations (40%):

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with -

  • Represent Ashiyanaa at local community events to foster partnerships and increase visibility.
  • Attend and present at educational outreach events to advocate for Ashiyanaa’s mission.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Cultural Competency: Familiarity with the unique needs of South Asian communities. Prior experience working with gender-based violence, seniors, youth, children, or crisis intervention is highly desirable.
  • Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work effectively with individuals who may have difficulty expressing their needs, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to assess clients' urgent needs and respond promptly and appropriately.
  • Crisis Intervention: Strong understanding of crisis intervention methodologies to support clients in high-stress situations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in decision-making and maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent ability to prioritize tasks, plan effectively, and manage time efficiently.
  • Performs well under pressure, especially when managing challenging or critical clients and situations.
  • Must be comfortable in public speaking and presentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience working with databases and client management software.
  • Able to follow complex instructions, report to supervisors and the board, and take responsibility for assigned tasks, ensuring timely completion.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and current insurance coverage.
  • Successful applicants will be asked to show proof that they can legally work in the U.S. and submit to a background check.
  • Proficiency in a South Asian language is preferred.
