Job description
Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project / Field Engineer Intern to join our regional office in Silver Spring, Maryland. This position provides hands-on experience supporting specialty foundation and ground improvement projects, including Auger Pressure Grouted Piling, Displacement Piling, Driven Piling, Pressure Grouting, Sheeting and Shoring, Ground Improvement, and Micropiling. The intern will play a key role in coordinating field activities, supporting quality control efforts, and assisting project teams in delivering safe, efficient, and technically sound work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist project engineers and field supervisors with planning, scheduling, and coordinating technical and quality control activities on assigned projects
- Support monitoring of job sites for compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, engineering best practices, and company standards
- Help maintain project documentation, including daily reports, field logs, production records, and quality control documentation
- Observe and support field operations related to specialty foundation and ground improvement work
- Assist with coordination and communication between field crews, third-party inspectors/engineers, and general contractors under supervision
- Participate in project and client meetings to gain exposure to project coordination and quality control processes
- Support tracking of materials, equipment usage, and production quantities
- Assist in identifying and communicating field issues to project management staff
- Adhere to company safety policies and actively participate in job site safety meetings
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology are preferred.
