Data Center Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of mission-critical data center facilities. This role will work closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and operations teams to ensure reliable and efficient electrical infrastructure for large-scale data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of electrical systems for data center projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors throughout project design and construction phases.
  • Review electrical drawings, technical submittals, and construction documents.
  • Participate in commissioning, startup testing, and system validation activities.
  • Provide technical support for power distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning for electrical system issues.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and engineering assessments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, building codes, and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical design, construction, or mission-critical facility operations.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and building management systems (BMS).
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, construction practices, and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as NEC and NFPA.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, or similar engineering software.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience working in data center, mission-critical, or critical facility environments.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage substation design and electrical infrastructure systems.
