STEM Education Specialist
Position Overview
The STEM Education Specialist will be responsible for delivering engaging math and science lessons to young learners while incorporating principles of early childhood education. This role offers the opportunity to teach foundational STEM concepts to students, using creative and age-appropriate teaching methods. The ideal candidate is passionate about STEM education and eager to gain experience in early childhood teaching strategies. The candidate may also be called upon to conduct tutoring for older students as needed to fulfill the requirements of RLA, LLC.
Key Responsibilities

STEM Tutoring for Young Learners and Older Learners
- Develop and teach interactive lessons in math and science for students aged 5-12, introducing fundamental concepts in an engaging manner.
- Adapt complex scientific and mathematical ideas into fun, age-appropriate activities that align with early childhood learning standards.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions, focusing on the individual needs of each student.

Support Early Childhood Learning
- Work closely with the Education Coordinator to integrate early childhood education techniques into STEM lessons.
- Participate in professional development workshops to learn more about early childhood education strategies and best practices.
- Create a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and a love for learning in young students.

Curriculum Development Support
- Assist in creating and refining STEM curriculum materials tailored to young learners, including hands-on experiments and activities.
- Contribute to the development of lesson plans that align with RLA’s mission and standards for educational excellence.
- Collaborate with other tutors to ensure consistency and quality in lesson delivery.

Parent Communication and Progress Tracking
- Maintain regular communication with parents about their child’s progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Document and track each student’s progress through individualized learning plans and assessments.
- Provide recommendations to parents for continued learning support at home.
Qualifications
- Major in Education, Early Childhood Education, Biology, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in tutoring, especially in STEM subjects, is highly preferred.
- Experience in early childhood education is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- Ability to speak with parents and families about STEM programs at engagement events.
- Ability to create a fun and interactive learning environment that encourages curiosity.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and virtual learning platforms.
- Passion for making STEM accessible and engaging for young children.
