Wild Sprouts is a nature-based organization dedicated to providing immersive outdoor learning experiences for children from birth to 15 years old. Our programs incorporate lessons in math, literacy, science, and art through hands-on exploration in nature. Set against the scenic backdrop of Hope Valley Farm in Knoxville, MD, we welcome families from Frederick County, Washington County, and even neighboring areas in Virginia to join us in cultivating a love for learning and the environment.
Education and Experience
- In current pursuit of Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Development, Childhood Education or related field.
Internship Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines
- Prepare classroom materials and ensure safety and cleanliness
- Assist in communicating with parents about their child’s progress and activities
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines
- Support routine childcare tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment
Qualifications
- Ability to calmly address stressful situations professionally while multi-tasking to ensure smooth school operations
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively within a group
- Ability to display initiative and a strong work ethic
- Gives attention to detail and follows instructions
- Must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- Meets background check eligibility
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
