Employment Support Specialist, Part-Time, Frederick, MD
Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. is a growing Human Service organization that promotes independence of people who are deaf or hard of hearing through Communication, Connection and Community Supports in partnership with Maryland Department of Rehabilitation Services.
Responsibilities: Provide individual and group on-the-job training for individuals with various levels of hearing & vision loss as well as other diagnoses. This includes teaching and coaching individuals to develop job skills, preparation in interviews and job development, employee and employer relationships, work ethics, communication for successful employment outcomes. And on-the-job training.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred but not required. Excellent people and interpersonal skills. Six months experience with training, coaching and motivating people. Valid driver’s license. Skilled in the use of structured training techniques for teaching job performance skills (such as sequence, quality, and quantity); job-related skills (such as grooming, socializing with coworkers, or managing one's paycheck); and work behaviors (such as accepting supervision, following instruction).
Starting wage is $18 per hour. Hours per week will vary with position of development.
