Associate for Marketing & Events Job Description

Clarksville Commons is hiring an Associate for Marketing & Events to work closely with the Director of Community Relations in support of the organization, marketing, and oversight of community events at the Commons. The Associate for Marketing & Events will report directly to the Director of Community Relations at Clarksville Commons.

 

Work Schedule

  • Fridays from May 2 through September 27, 2025, 4:30pm-9:30pm;
  • Saturdays from May 3 through November 22, 2025, 8:30am-1:30pm;
  • Select other days/times throughout the year.

 

Completion of duties will require approximately 10-12 hours/week, and 2-5 hours/week from December through May. 

 

The Associate for Marketing & Events is responsible for:

  1. Acting as Farmers Market Assistant for approximately 30 markets per year. Markets are held on Saturdays, 9am-1pm.
    1. Coordinate with the Director of Community Relations to ensure smooth operation of all Farmers Markets
    2. Assist with unloading and loading of the Commons’ and vendors’ tents and supplies;
    3. Educate market customers about the Maryland Market Money (MMM) program;
    4. Process MMM transactions;
    5. Collect MMM tokens from vendors at the close of market;
    6. Maintain ongoing communication with market vendors in general, and particularly about the MMM program.
    7. Act as Market Manager when Director of Community Relations is not present.
  2. Acting as Commons Host for Friday night summer concert series. Concerts are held from 6:30pm-9:00pm, until September when they shift to 6:00pm-8:30pm.
    1. Greet performers and other event partner organizations;
    2. Assist performers with Commons-related questions as necessary.
    3. Welcome and interact with community members attending concerts as needed;
    4. Be on the plaza in person for the duration of concerts;
    5. Ensure that the plaza and Commons’ grounds are secured and tidy before leaving.
  3. Performing online marketing tasks
    1. Submit details for all events to HoCo Tourism’s online events calendar.
    2. Submit details for all events to other online media channels (Baltimore Banner, River Hill Villager, Fulton Flyer).
    3. Prepare and schedule two social media posts per week about the week’s Friday concert.
    4. Create and post a video of each event within 60 minutes of start time.
  4. Acting as Event Assistant for annual/special events at the Commons:
    1. Support the Director of Community Relations in executing event plans;
    2. Welcome and interact with the public attending the event;

 

Qualifications include:

  • A responsible enthusiastic self-starter with attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills;
  • Strong verbal and customer service skills;
  • Reliable transportation;
  • Available on Saturdays and evenings;
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varied seasons and weather conditions;
  • Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations;
  • Willingness to learn the technicalities of federal nutrition benefits programs;
  • Skill and experience with creating social media posts, including video posts;
  • Skill and experience with submitting information to media channels;
  • Ability to lift 25lbs. and stand for several hours.

 

Starting salary will be $18/hour.
This position will be as an independent contractor.
